1) Patching
Thanks to some
strenuous efforts by Syzygy and Beosil, Mytharria: Dawn Rising now
works with many clients and patch versions.
Hint Link: OSI Support (All the UO.cfg, Login.cfg, and other topics covered).
- Do a Full Install of UO.
- Change the ip on the verinfo file to the new ip on OSI
Old IP: 207 239 134 110 8888 New IP: 208 12 168 15 8888
- Use the OSI patcher and patch to the latest version.
Run UOAutoPatch.exe, and go have a snack (It will take a long time to patch everything... more than 10Mb)
- Make a backup of the following files in a /UOstuff or /UO/Temp or /UO/Old Files directory. You will need to restore those files in order to do the AutoPatch again when a new version is out, and if you want to play in other servers, including OSI servers:
Client.exe Statics0.mul Staidx0.mul Verdata.mul
|
2) Downloading the new world
Download the Mytharria Files:
- Client_2.0.4a (A must!)
- NewStatics
- Ignition
- Ignition.cfg
In order to provide our players with the best possible gameplay
experience, we have altered the normal OSI map that you may be used
to - both by removing some areas and towns, and creating totally new
places. In order for you to experience these changes, you will need
to download the new map files.
- Download Mytharria
Statics
Then, unzip Only statics0.mul and staidx0.mul from your NewStatics.zip into your /UO directory and all other files to your UO directory (generally c:\program files\Ultima Online)
Do not put them in a folder within the Ultima Online folder or it will not work
Run Ignition.exe (NOT client.exe, and not UO.exe) to connect to Mytharria. But not yet. Whenever OSI Comes out with a new Patch, you need to update your Ignition.cfg file. To do so, download Ignition.cfg. Save the file to your UO directory as Ignition.cfg.
|
3) Editing your login.cfg
Download Login.cfg or...
In your
/UO/ directory, there is a login.cfg file. This file tells the UO
client which server to connect to. If you wish to continue playing
on OSI servers at a later time, you will need to put a ;
before each LoginServer entry, apart from the Mytharria ones. If you
don't wish to play on OSI servers in future, you can delete the
entries in there. Enter in the following *exactly* as they appear
below:
LoginServer=63.81.11.244,5003
Once both of those are done, save the file. If you wish to play on other servers at another time, you will need to remove
the ; from the OSI servers, and place it before the Mytharria
servers.
|
4) Editing your uo.cfg
You will need to change to off some features in your UO.CFG file, in order to prevent crashing bugs if something goes wrong the first time you try to enter Mytharria...
- Edit your uo.cfg file
- Find the FullScreen option and set it to off:
FullScreen=off
- Find the ShowIntroAnim option and set it to off:
ShowIntroAnim=off You may now log into the world with your
username/password that you specified on your account application
(case sensitive) and start rebuilding civilisation! (Remember to run Ignition.exe)
|
5) Client Crashing...
Sometimes, when you do everything right if you miss the NewStatics.zip you are able to enter Mytharria and play, but then you see that the maps are all wrong. What you do then? You download the Mytharria.zip file and then you unzip it in your /UO directory. What happens next? When you run Ignition.exe your client crashes when you select your char... Mostly it will crash on two screens:
- Connecting...
- Entering Britannia
Or worse! If you do all the above steps but you forget to DON'T unzip verdata.mul you will sometimes start the client, create your char and then get stuck in the Entering Britannia Screen. Or sometimes you will start your client and you will have the mouse icon running (The gauntlet cursor) and a grey screen inside the client window... But that is it. If your window starts in full screen mode, you will need to restart your computer. So, What is the problem then?
The problem is: VERDATA.MUL!!!! I don't know why, but it seems that the verdata.mul is crashing the client... It has nothing to do with ignition, as if you unzip all the NewStatics.zip overwriting staidx0.mul, statics0.mul, verdata and then run the client (not ignition) it will crash the same way.
Now I ask you: Why the verdata.mul is used? here is a simple explanation of the verdata.mul file, you can learn more about this going in the InsideUO site:
VERDATA.MUL contains patch entries that override already existing entries in the above data files. The use of VERDATA.MUL was a recent addition to InsideUO, thanks almost completely to Cironian for dropping the format for it on me out of the blue.
So, why it crashes the client? Dunno.... But I will crack and search until I discover that. Meanwhile, you can play. Just don't use verdata.mul from Mytharria.
This Step By Step to connect to Mytharria was made by Van Horn using the connecting.html page from Mytharria. I hope that this helps people who are getting stuck as I did trying to play Mytharria.
Fare Well good people, and good Role Playing to you all!
